Michael Maartensz, Director

Michael Maartensz is the Director and driving force behind the new Turfcare WA, and the growth the company has achieved over the past decade. The business was founded by Michael’s father and Michael made his start in the industry when he could barely push a domestic mower.

Now, with over 20 years’ experience in the turf industry, a dedicated focus on processes, and a commitment to employing leading technologies, Michael leads his expanding team from the front.

Michael is highly qualified in turf management and renovation and is renowned for his technical knowledge. He oversees all aspects of the company's activities and is closely involved in the development of the business, communication with clients and service delivery.

Michael is ably assisted by his General Manager, Cameron Sutherland.

Cameron Sutherland, General Manager

Working together to lead Turfcare WA, Cameron Sutherland and Michael Maartensz form a powerful partnership that is evolving the business and redefining benchmarks in the turf sector in Western Australia.

Cameron brings extensive experience in turf management of the most premium facilities, having joined Turfcare WA in 2017 from his position as General Manager, Racecourse and Facilities, with Perth Racing, at Ascot.

In 2013 and 2014, Cameron was consultant to the Department of Sports and Recreation on the evaluation of the new Perth Stadium tender bids and the design and management proposals for the stadium’s playing surface.

From 2005 to 2013, Cameron was Area Manager of the WACA, rounding out a trifecta of key positions that make him an exceptional fit for for the position of General Manager of Turfcare WA.

Leading the Turfcare WA operation, the whole team benefit from his level of experience, as do each and every one of our clients.

Richard Gainsford, Turf Services Manager

With 10 years’ experience in sports turf management including preparing and presenting Fremantle Oval to AFL standards, Richard brings a wealth of knowledge along with his technical ability in large scale turf management projects. Richard also played a pivotal role managing UWA sports park and the new Dockers Training Facility during his time working for Programmed.

Corey Clarke, Contracts and Construction Manager

Corey brings a diverse background both in the turf industry and business and personnel management to the role to provide all-round staff, contractor and turf management to this role. Corey has 10 years’ experience in turf management starting at the WACA Ground where he completed his apprenticeship in Turf Management. He has since expanded to include golf course management, facility management of major sporting and educational venues including UWA and Perth College and large scale local government turf maintenance projects. Corey has also completed his Batchelor of Business majoring in HR to provide well rounded management skills to this role.
